Two of the most well-known and oft-recited passages in the Bible is that known as the "Lord's Prayer1," found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-42, known as "The Lord's Prayer." Actually, these words of Jesus were spoken on at least two separate occasions. Matthew records the Lord's teaching in the "Sermon on the Mount" (Matt. 6:9), while Luke records Jesus' answer to a disciple's request, Lord, teach us to pray," after He had been "praying in a certain place" (Luke 11:1).
It is important for God's people to pray often (1 Thes. 5:17; Rom. 12:12; 1 Tim. 2:8, etc.). It is also important for us to know how to pray.
Let us take a closer look at the Lord's teaching on prayer in Matthew 6 and Luke 11.
