NOW YOU MUST COMPLETE THE DOING OF ITThe Good SamaritanIn The Good Samaritan (May 17:2020), We examined the parable of Jesus by that name. Three men traveled the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and passed a man who had been beaten and robbed and left for dead. The first, a priest, a religious leader of the Jews, passed the man by. The second, a Levite, an assistant of the priests, did likewise. The third, however, had compassion on the man and rendered first aid and took him to an inn for further care. This man was a Samaritan, one hatted of the Jews as were all Samaritan. Jesus brought home his point by asking the one who had insincerely asked Jesus a question, "who is my neighbor?" "Which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among thieves?" (Luke 10:36). The man answered, "He that shewed mercy on him," to which Jesus responded, "Go thou and do likewise" (Luke 10:37). We must love our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:27). The Parable of the Good Samaritan illustrates the fact that our neighbor is anyone who needs our help. I Have Obeyed the Voice of the LordIn I Have Obeyed the Voice of the Lord (April 26, 2020), we learned God demands total obedience of us. Saul claimed to have obeyed the voice of the Lord, but he had saved alive part of the people and animals of the Amalekites, when he had been communed to completely destroy the Amalekites. Jesus also demands complete obedience. He said in Luke 6:46, "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (See also Matt. 7:21-22). TomorrowIn an article entitled simply, Tomorrow (April 5, 2020), We learned that we should not, as did Pharaoh (Ex. 8:1-16), put off until tomorrow what ought to be done today. In 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV), Paul quotes a prophecy from Isaiah 49:8: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." He then sets the "acceptable time: "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." There may not be a tomorrow for us! Can Sinners Change? In an important article, Can Sinners Change (March 29,2020), we answered an important question. Multitudes of sinners need to, but can sinners change? Indeed they can! They can by repenting. Repenting is the process whereby a sinner learns of, is sorry for, and turns away from his sin or sins - he quits! James tells us how in 4:6-10. You can change! How Should Christians Respond to the Corona Virus? On March 22, 2020, we gave some important advice on How Should the Christian Respond to the Corona Virus?. I encourage you to reread the article. The advice is still up to date. How Should Christians Respond to the Corona Virus? On March 15, 2020, we answered a question that may be on many of our readers' minds, What We Believe. We believe in God the Father, we believe in Christ the Son, we believe in the Holy Spirit, we believe in the Holy Bible, the Word of God, We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, we believe in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, we believe in our eventual resurrection from the dead, we believe in the blood of Jesus, we believe in God's plan of salvation, we believe in God's pattern of worship, we believe in eternal life, and we believe in God's love. The article indicates what the Bible teaches on these vital beliefs. (Continued on page 4). Follow Us On Facebook Back to Top |
