HOW TO HAVE A CLOSER WALK WITH JESUSPeter writes in 2 Peter 3:11-12: Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God…. The word translated, hasting, means “to haste, make haste;” and “ to desire earnestly,” according to Joseph Henry Thayer. So we should earnestly look for the coming of our Lord! A preacher once asked for a show of hands from everyone who wanted to God to heaven. Everyone hand in the auditorium went up, except for one in the back. The preacher asked, “Don’t you want to go to heaven?” To which the man answered, “Oh, yes, but I thought you were getting up a bunch to go right now!” We must want to go now if the Lord calls us. How can we have a close relationship with the Lord here, if we are not willing to live with Him in eternity when He is ready for us? Remember, John writes in 1 John 3:1: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Are you not ready to see the Lord as He is? Conclusion. So, how do we develop a closer relationship with Jesus? First, Seek God’s kingdom and righteousness. Second, Love the Lord with all your heart. Love your neighbor as yourself. Finally, Earnestly desire the coming of the Lord.
